About Michael Spiro
I have spent more than three decades in the fire service and municipal government, leading organizations through emergencies, organizational change, and the growing demands of modern public safety.
Today, I serve as Fire Chief and IT Administrator, where my work focuses on leadership, emergency operations, strategic planning, labor relations, technology modernization, and organizational development.
Throughout my career, I have operated at the intersection of public safety and technology. That perspective has shaped how I approach leadership and problem-solving. Strong emergency response depends on more than apparatus and staffing. It requires communication, reliable systems, sound decision-making, accountability, and the trust of both the public and the people we lead.
This site is a place to share practical insights from the fire service, municipal leadership, emergency management, and technology. Some articles will focus on leadership and organizational culture. Others will cover emergency operations, accreditation, labor relations, strategic planning, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and the role technology plays in modern government.
The goal is simple: share lessons learned from real-world experience and contribute to conversations that help organizations improve, adapt, and lead effectively.
Whether you work in public safety, local government, leadership, or technology, I hope you find something here that is useful and worth thinking about.
